Starfleet sounds like a nice name, right? Right? I am speaking about the militaristic force from the hate fic "Starfleet Magic". Now, review for that fic will be one of the next posts, as well as Sue profiles to return to the journal's roots, but let's talk a little about Starfleet. Their basic troops are nonentities, and their core members are capable, but are mostly suited for the big monsters when they attack individually. And for bringing down friendship and their own allies.

Even though Starfleet specializes in fighting one strong monster at a time and defense, there are some of my villains too strong or competent for the team. Here are five examples. (Because Starfleet is a team, the baddies are allowed to use armies but only if they can summon them)

1. Ten of Swords. He ultimately lost to Stormwolf, but Stormwolf did not use Starfleet tactics. This swordsman, as his name suggests, has one mind but ten bodies, and they are all very good at swordfighting, able to cut bullets easily. Starfleet can focus on only one monster at a time and blindly charge at them, and always require Lightning Dawn, their leader, for the final blow. However, here they are even outnumbered, and due to not having strong bonds unlike the Ten's hivemind, plus all Ten being skilled in melee combat, the Ten will triumph.

2. Armilla. The Vampire Lady is better known for fanservice and her interactions with Finn and Leah, but she is actually pretty competent in a fight too. For starters, she managed to outsmart and kidnap Finn after a fight. She can spam teleport and is immune to the Sun, but that's not all. Due to being a woman, Starfleet would think she is obsessed with beauty, but she isn't. She can drag others to Limbo and do something that will even the numbers, which is summoning all three types of Stygians. And the Elite ones are a legit challenge to Padawan Finn. She can also just trap others to Limbo while she escapes with the teleport, raise legitimate points that will question the enemy team's dynamic and use the environment to her advantage.

3. The Hammer of Abyss. He and Armilla are close, and actually have some friendship, but I will not put them simultaneously because I don't have to! The Hammer is actually even stronger than his partner, his hammer can create earthquakes and he can destroy a big city. He has the power of shadows and dark crystals and knows how to use it, even giving Finn's then alive mentor the fight of his life. Like Armilla, he can send all Starfleet to Limbo and summon lesser demons to swarm them, though his summons are even more potent and he can and has used them to murder civilians. He is also good at gaslighting, which is useful against a team with no strong bonds.

4. The Loyalist. Unlike all the above, he does not summon minions or have many bodies to outnumber his foes. However, Finn only escaped him the first two times because of his friends, and Starfleet sees friendship as something wrong and stupid. Also they hate change, which is a problem, because the Loyalist does improve himself between encounters and Finn had to do the same to kill him by the skin of his teeth. The Loyalist would use the Limbo trick and wits and outsmart the Starfleet members one by one with his balanced fighting style.

5. Alastor. The Big Bad of Stormwolf Timeline and Archdemon of Wrath, he is far more of a threat than anyone would think. He is disguised as an ordinary human who spreads propaganda for his god-king, and is too strong for even Finn or Leah at full power to take on. He is big and, for his league, slow, but has a lot of attacks that have a devastating power and range, can teleport others away from him and summon monsters to aid him, knows a lot of secrets and can expose Starfleet's atrocities, ruining them for good, and he is actually tough even when his enemies are using effective teamwork, with strong bonds.
