In our life, especially with the Coronavirus hanging over our heads, we need some positivity. Most of my reviews are bashing of works that truly deserve it.

But not all fanfics are bad. Writing is very helpful, it trains your imagination, is a nice way of spending free time and is finally a way to make friends.

"No mask for this attack" is a great work. It's not for the faint of the heart, no. It takes romanticised abuse, the worst trope in the world because it's actually dangerous IRL, and deconstructs it thoroughly.

It's a Star Wars fanfic, where Rey is trapped by Kylo Ren, who, surprisingly, is portrayed as a sadistic psychopath and not the innocent victim he very much isn't.

Her struggle with the Dark Side is very very realistic, and she does her best to stand up to abuse and manipulation, and escape the situation she is in. (TROS was very good, but Rey's actions disgusted me and I am happy to see her actually keeping her sanity (barely) in this fic. She does put up a lot of effort!)

She even tries to fight back against the Supreme Leader, and despite her failures and the Dark trying to seduce her more and more, she never gives up.

In the end, she manages to escape, and along with her lover, who never stopped trusting her and caring about her, prepares revenge against her abuser.

The author is also a friend of mine, and I don't call her a great writer and person because of that. Actually, we became friends BECAUSE she is a great writer and person. We share plenty of interests. Her attitude is projected in her writing, and her stories are mostly sweet, but this one is an attack against abuse.

Overall, the story rocks.

My grade is: 10/10. It's emotional, has tension, and its messages are healthy! Do yourself a favor and read it!
