pan2000Naofumi, the Shield Hero, is an interesting case. He is a morally gray person who had to deal with a morally black princess.
There are many people who say about other heroes being thrown to his world and making things better. I am going to do the opposite and throw him in my own fanverse.
How long would he last? Whom can he take down?
Can: Leah Clearwater
While Leah is a superb melee bruiser, who is extremely fast, her offense is not made for someone who is great with shields. While her Quake Punch and her Garlic Bombs are a good stun, Leah's weapons and punches most of the time will be met with spiked shields and shield traps. Her wolf form also is out of the picture, and Naofumi has shields that probably can resist the Beast Hammer.
Can't: Finn
Sure, Naofumi might make a shield so hard even a lightsaber can be stopped. Sure, his Cursed Shield has exceptional offense. But Finn is very well prepared. He can use the Force and knock him down, bypassing his defense, use the Shockbolt that can pass through the tiniest gaps and the detonators with the blast damage. He is smart enough to avoid the spikes and Cursed Shield counterattacks.
Can: Lightning Dawn
Lightning is simply not made for Naofumi. Naofumi has fought a stronger foe, who was less smart and creative, in the past, Motoyasu. And he only lost because of Malty's cheating. Since then he became even tougher. While Lightning is tough, his beams can be blocked by the mighty shield of Naofumi. He can reflect the Uniforce, even, and counter with cursed flames to roast him.
Can't: Rey
Rey has just a blaster and a lightsaber as weapons, which would be easily stopped by Naofumi. But her Force abilities are above Finn's by far. While Naofumi will resist the Mind Trick easily, nothing saves him from a mighty Force Push or a quick Force Choke. Due to his weak offense, once she gets him with the Force, it's over.
Can: The Loyalist
The Loyalist was a persistent foe Finn had in the first season. Sadly for him, he is ill-equipped for the Shield Hero. He has a blaster, a Riot Baton and limited Hellfire, but none of them can pass Naofumi's best shields, and he will find himself able to be counterattacked often. His speed makes him a hard foe, just like Leah, but still beatable.
Can't: Benjamin
Sure, Finn beat him with a defensive manuever, but he had to use the Force to barely escape two instant deaths. Them being removing air from the lungs or filling them with water. These are the reasons Naofumi and his overreliance on being able to block and counter stands no chance.
Can: Rhymey Ward
Rhymey would stand a chance, his Thrash Slash is a defense breaker and his Hell Gale would knock a lot of people down. However, he telegraphs his attacks and the rest of them are not very effective against Naofumi, thus that limits him a lot. Naofumi can find an opening with the Chaos Shield and deal damage.
Can't: Emperor Palpatine
Palpatine is the glass cannon to Naofumi's stone wall. He can only be beaten if he uses nothing but Force Lightning. However, he can also use the Force to snap bones, choke people and basically make Naofumi a pinball. Someone based on defense stands no chance against the Emperor by themselves.
Can: Hectan
Another glass cannon like Palpatine, but inferior. Hectan can fire very powerful and very blockable projectiles. Naofumi can block all of his spells easily and kill him in one counterattack.
Can't: Vlad
While Armilla, Fang and Sethian could go either way, Vlad is the one who would stop Naofumi in his tracks easily. His Bone Magic is tailor-made for someone who has great external defense and hardly any offense. If not interrupted, he can snap Naofumi's spine, and no shield protects from that.
