Rhymey was not the true Big Bad of the arc. However, he was a very strong, dangerous adversary that was able to win a few fights and one of the reasons the true Big Bad was dangerous.

Which villains were more powerful than him and could beat him in a fight?

Can: Queen Bee

This giant bee was a monster that was fast and smart. She had everyone in Starfleet on the ropes, but Lightning destroyed her with his super mode, the almighty Enticorn. If he needed his super mode to win, Rhymey didn't stand a chance.

Can't: Stone Heart

Both have powerful magic, but both also faced the same enemy: Virago. Stone Heart tried every single cheap trick in the book, including using the Ring of Fear. He still lost horribly and got killed. Virago also put up a valiant fight against Rhymey and landed a few hits, but the swordsman managed to beat and capture her. So, Stone Heart certainly is no match for Rhymey.

Can: Lilith

Rhymey really, really couldn't deal with Renee in their fight. Especially since Pierre nearly broke him. While he does have some resistance to magic, Lilith has very powerful spells that can corner an entire squad of heroes. While she can't seduce the imprinted, she can still demolish him in a duel. Or send him to Limbo and trap him there.

Can't: Jonnie Goodboy Tyler

Jonnie is someone who has blown up planets with his technology. He also can outfight several soldiers on his own. In my arc, he also survives a headshot and keeps fighting. However, it's clear he is a fraud who overblows his reputation, and he can't truly deal with superpowers like Rhymey's.

Can: The Loyalist

Rhymey lost to a swordsman and someone who used Hellfire fighting them one by one. So he would have trouble against the demon who is practically both. The Loyalist's Riot Baton is unbreakable even by lightsabers, he can also use a blaster and cast Hellfire slightly weaker than Renee's. Only beaten by Finn when he became a Jedi, the Loyalist can for sure fight another swordsman with telekinesis, who also announces his attacks.

Can't: Jack the Ripper

Mostly demonstrated in the spitefic where Rhymey met his best friend, he takes on a serial killer who has no superpowers. Even when said killer exploited all of Rhymey's mistakes and gave him trouble, it took one distraction only for Rhymey to cut him down. Jack can throw a barrage of knives and has a spin like Rhymey, and is fast... the thing is, his special moves are just like Rhymey's, and he doesn't even have all of them. Or flight. Or his strength and durability. He is smarter, but he still can lose once Rhymey figures out his moveset.

Can: Armilla

Rhymey believes that due to his species he is superior to anyone who isn't the same species as himself. So it's natural he might face vampires who are exactly the same in that regard. Armilla is an example. She can trap Rhymey in Limbo, has infinite knives she adjusts for her targets, has the strength and speed of a Vampire Lord becausd she is one and her teleportation made even Leah have trouble with her. And of course she can summon monsters for distraction. She is also smart enough to telegraph Rhymey's attacks since he announces them.

Can't: The Vanguard

The Vanguard is one of the enemies in Boar News Tower and could cleave even Leah with one hit. However, the monster is not fast and is also not fully sapient. Rhymey is faster than a vampire, which means he can run circles around the Vanguard and figure out his weak point. He can also pelt him with Drill Quill from a distance and even land one or two Thrash Slashes at his tail, which are a bit slow but do an awful lot of damage.

Can: Grand Ruler Celesto

The absolute top of Starfleet, Grand Ruler is the strongest politically and physically. Like the Dark One, he ranks his warriors by their strength in fights alone. He trained Lightning, who is a bit stronger than Rhymey, in fighting. He can also read minds very well and anticipate Rhymey's moves.

Can't: Matt Engarde

And Matt knows it. This guy is the true Big Bad of the arc, with Rhymey basically being his Number 2. Rhymey was the one who trained Matt in fighting, and the only one of the duo who has superpowers. However, Matt is smart enough to not even try to betray Rhymey and through manipulation wrap him around his little finger. In short, Matt is the Arc Villain, but NOT because he is stronger than Rhymey, as he really isn't.
