Swift Star: Why I actually like him

pan2000I have already expressed my opinion about Starfleet. They are the very definition of a White Savior, and I don't like them.
However, there is one loyalist I have a soft spot for, even when he spearheads the "fight" against strawmen. His name is Swift Star, and this guy appeared in Season 8. Somehow, he is more fleshed out than half the main cast which was there for many seasons and movies prior! This includes the guy every hater of the series hates, Rhymey Ward.
Sometimes, I wonder how this guy works for Starfleet. In Season 8, he wants to save Striker at all costs, and he even persuades his mentor to help with that. (Note: Starfleet's philosophy is sometimes "Kill, imprison and brainwash or be killed")
By the way, did I mention he is the only non-Author Avatar who steals spotlight? I do so now. In Season 8, he has to save his cousin (fortunately for him, he is not Cadence) and also has serious trouble with an evil Yandere (as if there are any good ones, dear Mykan Stus...).
Season 9 mostly puts him to the sidelines... and then in Season 10, he gets sort of an actual arc! He is now a cop dealing with protesters. While I see him only arresting the aggressive ones who oppose Starfleet and not fanatics of the government who bully in Grand Ruler's name, he is visibly far more tolerant than the core team of Starfleet, only retaliating in case of actual violence. He shows respect for those who simply disagree with him and even says people can't foricly say only they are right. I feel bad about what will happen if Celesto paid attention to that part. Also, Swift is a bit relatable? He is anxious before the speech, and it doesn't completely go away even when encouraged.
But when everything goes right for him, he notably gets more confidence. Yes, ladies and gentlemen. Starfleet character just got realistic character development.
He also has to face disrespect as a cop, and of course asks his friends and mentor for advice, and manages to mostly stand tall in spite of it. If he had thoughts that maybe Starfleet was wrong, as it clashes with his own ideals in practice, he would be the best character in the fic.
