Note: This list includes big bosses, small bosses and sword guardians.
Wonderboy in Monster Land is a great game, that pretty much is clear. Though it starts very easy, it ends being very, VERY hard!
Let's go!
1. Grim Reaper
Don't be fooled. In other games of the series, he is a colossal pain in the neck, and Grim Reaper sounds intimidating, but four hits and he is dead. Plus, this loser can only ram you.
2. Vampire Lord
On paper, as intimidating as the Grim Reaper. In practice, as harmless... if you have a shield, stand still and block his fireballs. You can beat him by standing still. No, seriously.
3. Sphinx
The boss can ask you a ridiculously easy question to let you proceed unharmed. She is tough if you answer wrong, but most of the time, she is effortless coins.
4. Red Knight
The third mandatory boss, he is average. He will not let you pass with a question, nor will he charge blindly into your sword, but if you watch his jumps and have spells with you, you can destroy him with ease.
5. Mycoid
Also known as "Goblin", this boss is the first serious threat and the biggest coward of the game. He will jump away from you and never stop summoning minions, only hopping on your head when you are swarmed. He is very fragile, however, and that will backfire horribly on him if you strike him early.
6. Kraken
One of the bosses that can be farmed for money, the big squid is easy if you figure the pattern. The projectiles are very easy to avoid unless the boss hits you and juggles you into the air. But if you hit it, you can jump through it for a second. Repear the pattern, avoid the easy to dodge but strong ink blobs and kill it.
7. Blue Knight
Just the red knight, except he has upgrades in strength and durability. So do you, and you have become smarter.
8. Poor God
Grim Reaper has upgrades. This time, he has minions, is MUCH more durable, and above all else, steals money if he touches you. Because Grim Reapers MUST be your worst indirect enemy in this series. Fortunately, no new attacks, so he will charge into your sword until he dies.
9. Silver Knight
The penultimate boss is quite easy for its role. He is the evolution of the Blue Knight, with no new attacks, and is actually the calm before the storm that is the infuriating final level.
10. Giant Kong
An optional boss who gives you a sword, and the true boss of Stage 5 (which doesn't have a mandatory one). He is very, very hard for his role as an early boss, and extremely durable, and his rocks are hard to avoid (never forget to jump, don't rely on your shield!)... thankfully, you can strike him when he lands from a jump, this is the most effective method.
11. Demon
One of the few bosses you can tank. He is surrounded by a ring of flames that grows and shrinks. That's all. Tank and abuse the invincibility frames to strike him multiple times, but you WILL take damage, so he is high.
12. Snow Kong
Giant Kong, even bigger asshole edition. Fortunately, he is less durable, so strike him mercilessly. Unfortunately, he also has a trait of the Goblin, which is... to call minions. And these minions aren't mushrooms who are fodder, they are monkeys which throw ice cubes that slide on the floor and make the fight much harder.
13. Ghost/Minotaur
The moment bosses become downright unfair. This guy fights mostly like the knights... but unlike them, his jumps can be shorter (so no walking under him), and he was a beam that strikes across the screen and is unblockable. It's the most bullshit attack in the game and makes the boss extremely powerful. Also, get the fucking sword upgrades, or he will take forever, and you won't win an enduring match with this piece of shit.
14. Dragon
The final boss of the game, the one you are built up to destroy, the Big Bad who oppresses the land. He earned his position. He becomes much easier with the ruby, which lets you kill him in a few hits... then comes the second phase, and you fight a mechanical dragon. This form is hard to kill, with a mean fire breath that is hard to block (you have to calculate angles), is fast and has A LOT of durability. Hopefully you didn't get hurt in the first phase, because you will need your health against the damaging fiery breath and the grueling time limit! Oh, and the time limit certainly running out isn't the most unfair thing. Lose once, you lose the game. All your score, all your gear, all your progress, game over.
