Top 5 hardest Zelda bosses and minibosses and 5 easiest
Note: This list is not from games I have watched on Let's Play, but fights I actually played. Hyrule Warriors counts.
Let's start!
5. Easiest: Dark Link (Ocarina of Time)
Most boss fights in Zelda, including minibosses, can't be defeated by mashing the sword button like a scrub. People speak of this fight as if it's epic, but the game was my first one and I perfected this first try by paying attention to my surroundings and either mashing faster than he can swing or with good timing. He gets harder and much better if you use fancy moves, but when bad playstyle can make a battle easier, it deserves this spot.
4. Easiest: Margomill (A Link Between Worlds)
This boss is hard to hit, but honestly not much of a fight. It is also the easiest enemy in Hero Mode, where all the enemy attacks get four times stronger, but not damage from pits. Why? Because it does not directly attack you, instead it tries to shove you down the pits, which deal low damage! I was also better than my first time in OOT, so this boss went down like a bitch.
3. Easiest: Ball and Chain Soldier (A Link to the Past)
He is the chief of the tutorial dungeon to save Zelda. His mace makes a fair fight with the sword challenging, and there are three pots with hearts you might need... and I mean the pots. Throw two to his face and he is history.
2. Easiest: Armogohma (Twilight Princess)
While the Gohma in Ocarina of Time was pathetic, and far easier than Dark Link if you mash in neither fight, it's this one that bugs me more. The pun is unitnentional. Because this is not the first boss, it's the SIXTH one. The first phase is imposing on paper, with a giant laser beam and giant statues you have to bring down on her belly. Easier done than said. So, we have a second phase after three hits, where the bug's eye survives and uses the Joestar Secret Tecnique. No, O am not kidding.
Dishonorable Mentions: Gohma (Ocarina of Time, pathetic if you know what to do), Volga first fight in Hyrule Warriors (he is a pussy the first time, but gets much much better later), Morpheel (easy and boring), Blizzetta (I beat the first phase without damage or MOVING AT ALL, but the second one put up a decent fight).
1. Easiest: King Bulblin, on foot, both times.
King Bulblin basically shows up four times with some improvements to show how far you have grown. The horseback fights were easy, though when I faced him first time in the bridge I fell twice. Then they became easier... and easier...
In Gerudo Desert, after the easiest stealth segment in the world because you can just kill the guards with two arrows before they spot you, and even right after, you face the King in his tent. And I saw on YouTube that his massive axe deals notable damage. Shame that in my first attempt I didn't just perfect him, but also didn't even see the attack animation at all. And I also did that fairly with sword, unlike that tutorial miniboss in A Link to the Past.
5. Hardest: Phantom Ganon (Ocarina of Time)
The first boss you face as Adult Link, this guy is creative and also an asshole. First phase, he emerges from paintings with his horse to zap you. Some arrows can easily take him if you are careful. The second phase is a Dead Man's Volley. You have to reflect his energy balls, but he can send them back fast. The easy way out of this is to reflect from an angle that isn't right in front of him. Also, his spear hurts.
4. Hardest: Darkhammer (Twilight Princess)
Fuck this guy. Apart from Ganondorf, who is justified because he is a four-phase final boss, this is the guy who gave me the hardest beating in Twilight Princess. I used a potion and a soup after this. Yes, he can be oneshotted, but I couldn't cheese him and tried to fight him and the narrow corridor fairly. It's one of the few fights where the terrain favors the villain more than you, and he can counter the one thing that can assist you if your timing is not good. He is the reason I included minibosses on this list.
3. Hardest: Gemasaur King (A Link Between Worlds)
This boss is notable because he was challenging on Normal Mode and I beat him barely. However, in HERO MODE... I got stuck for a while. He killed me over three times. His patters are hard. When he does wear the mask, he is not hard, but when it is broken, the lights are out and he moves faster than the human eye can see. You have to turn on the lights to make him vulnerable, and he is so damn fast. Oh, and no tanking in Hero Mode. I warn you.
2. Hardest: Phantom Ganon (Hyrule Warriors)
Hyrule Warriors has its fair share of bosses. This one comes after the real Ganon's defeat, is a DLC boss and he does not fight as a mere shadow. He fights like it's the soul of Ganondorf himself, and story-wise he even has his own agenda. In Hyrule Warriors, it's all about combos and different characters have different weapons. The Dead Man's Volley is harder than it should be as a result. He also changes his tactics like the real Ganon and unlike everyone else as the fight goes on, and draws two giant swords. He fires a volley of powerful projectiles, or makes an electrical spin that is very hard to dodge and, finally, he has a very subtle weak point. I will spoil you and save you frustration, it's his back while he is laughing.
I swear, this version is Ganondorf's spirit.
Honorable Mentions: Ganondorf (final boss in Hyrule Warriors, he is harder than the entire list if you fight him before taking his castle and his second phase is my favorite boss ever, but you can weaken the first phase by taking the castle by a lot), Bongo Bongo (I went back and forth between him and Gemasaur King, he just has so many attacks and a lot are very damaging, plus you fight on a drum), Grinexx (A Link Between Worlds, he did a ton of damage and was hard to hit)
1. Hardest: Yuga Ganon (A Link Between Worlds)
This guy is my second favorite Ganon fight after Hyrule Warriors, and also a big bastard to fight. Because Yuga has a lot of dirty tricks and Ganon is a killing machine, their combination is a nightmare. For the first part, you face only Ganon's power and skill with his iconic trident. He can use a wide variety of moves, including an unblockable magic stab and a boomerang move, and of course teleport spam because it's Ganon and we are not in Ocarina of Time.
Second stage and Yuga's powers are used too. First, we have the classic Dead Man's Volley, hard because 1. Grazing the shot will not reflect it properly and 2. In the end, he fires TWO balls at once, and 3. It takes many hits for you to win. Then wall merge, with Light Arrows. You fight Yuga inside the painting, and in each part the way to harm him changes. In the second one, he can even kill you if you are careless.
Finally there is a part with hard to avoid attacks in theory, with Ganon's Blazing Bats and Yuga's painting flames at once, but there are safespots if you upgraded your Magic Gauge.
Opinions about my list?
Update: Two new challengers come to the list as of recently. Agahnim Fight 1 to the easiest as I perfected the wizard first try, and Helmasaur King as hardest because he is extremely hard unless you know how to avoid his fucking tail (it's right in front of his face, where you can hit him. Immediately stand there if you see the tail moving faster and you will defeat the boss sooner or later.)
