5 Jojo characters who Stand a chance against Luffy (and 5 who don't)

Luffy, the protagonist of One Piece, is extremely powerful. However, in Jojo, the characters are no slouches. Let's see who could defeat the captain of the Straw Hats!

Can: Polnareff.

Let's be honest. Luffy is not outclassed here. He has the advantage in strength (of course) and range, since he has a rubber body. In intelligence and determination, they are about the same. So, why does the Frenchman stand a chance? Because he has an extremely fast Stand with a pretty strong Rapier. Stabs from sharp weapons are the weakness of rubber. Meanwhile, Polnareff either has armor for durability or not for terrifying speed and his Stand can't be seen. So, he can land a hit, and if he does, Luffy will get hurt.

Can't: Hol Horse.

His Stand is a gun that is completely homing. His range is superior to even Luffy's... but his rubber body can tank a bullet. And he is so strong that can make this cowardly killer run away after a devastating punch.

Can: Dio Brando.

Dio is probably the main villain of the series. As a vampire, he is extremely strong and can probably survive anything Luffy throws at him, even if Luffy succeeds at breaking his scull like Jotaro. Luffy, for his part, could survive many punches and a road roller, but Dio can stop time. As Luffy is helpless, Dio can freeze him, robbing him of his flexibility, fill him with sharp knives that will penetrate rubber, or use the Space Ripper Stingy Eyes. Dio can even stomp if composite.

Can't: Noriaki Kakyoin.

Sure, Kakyoin is smarter and can adapt. In fact, he is one of the smartest Stardust Crusaders. His Stand has good range and firepower, and he knows how to use it and analyze his enemy. However, his Stand is not suitable for Luffy. Luffy could definetely deflect the Emerald Splash with his rubber body if he tries to, is even stronger than Hierophant Green and, if he senses the strings with Haki, can use his Fruit to navigate his punches through them.

Can: Giorno Giovanna.

Originally, his power was to give life to things. Just like Luffy, his power doesn't sound good in a battle, but both can use their powers very competently and it would provide a very interesting fight. Luffy would eventually use his Gears and corner Giorno. But Requiem is a massive upgrade to the Stand and has the power of negating everything you try to do. With this, Giorno would turn a losing battle into a triumph.

Can't: Nukesaku.

Nukesaku is a regular vampire with a weak power and a weak mind. Luffy outclasses him in every way possible and won't even use his Gears to triumph.

Can: Vanilla Ice.

Like Dio, he is a vampire with the same durability and weaknesses. At night, he is very dangerous. Luffy could pummel him and is physically stronger using Gear Fourth, possibly even with just Second. But... Vanilla Ice can one-hit-kill anyone he touches if he is surrounded by Cream, a void that destroys things on contact. Basically, it would be close to Luffy fighting Blackbeard. Blackbeard vs Ice would be a good mirror match.

Can't: Dire.

YOU FELL FOR IT, FOOL! THUNDER CROSS SPLIT ATTACK! Yes, his attacks are really creative, both the aforementioned attack and the Hamon Rose, but Haki is more destructive than Hamon against living beings (the other way round with undead), Luffy has a far bigger range and his Gears would defeat Dire in raw strength.

Can: Ultimate Kars.

This is a battle where Luffy's strength just isn't enough. Kars is borderline a villain Stu, who can copy every single thing on Earth, survive magma and has extraordinary intelligence. He could copy Haki too and possibly have a very strong one just by seeing it, can swim and fly, and is immortal. Even in his regular form he has ridiculously sharp blades he swings with incredible speed, lethal to someone with a rubber body. After he dealt with Luffy, he would also take Kaido apart.

Can't: Iggy.

I was tempted to use Oingo, but that would be insulting, so I used this adorable puppy instead. Why? Because Luffy has encountered a slightly more dangerous enemy with his power: Crocodile! Crocodile could turn to sand even his own body and, in the desert, was in his prime. Luffy struggled, but told Croc he would surpass him and kept his promise. Iggy has the advantage of his Stand being invisible to the naked eye of non-Stand users, but Luffy could counter this with Observation Haki.
